The corners of Isa’s lips tilted in a small smile and he held the other for a few more moments before pulling back slightly. His eyebrows furrowed as he began to think about the situation logically, or at least he attempted to. Evidently something was wrong here—it wasn’t every day that the future version of your best friend showed up—but he had no idea what he was supposed to do about it. Then again, that was generally how he felt about most things, as if someone else was playing some twisted sort of game and the consequences of his actions were beyond his control. He was sure he was still in Radiant Garden, he’d recognise it anywhere, so how had Axel gotten here? He briefly considered the whole mistake-in-the-time-lines theory he’d come up with a while ago but decided he’d rather not give himself a headache. It was strange enough thinking about one version of Lea standing before him while another was running about causing havoc throughout the town.
“So… We’ve established that you’re not dreaming,” he began softly, his head tilting slightly to the side. “I’m assuming I’m not either.” He eyed the other in mild curiosity and made a mental note to ask about the marks on his cheeks later. “I don’t think I would’ve imagine Lea as turning out like you. I thought he’d be… shorter.” He chuckled quietly and gave a small shake of his head. “I miss being taller than you, even if it was only by a bit.” Isa took a small step back as the leather of Axel’s coat became uncomfortable but he was still closer than he was before. Even if he was dreaming, it was a very realistic dream; their surroundings were correct even to the tiniest detail. His eyes moved from the view beyond Axel and lingered on his face. He reached up and ran a finger over one of the marks, a small frown forming on his lips. “What’re these?” he asked.
Axel kept his arms tightly around Isa, not wanting him to disappear from him. He had missed the boy’s presence, even if it was only going to be for a few minutes. In truth he had been sent to Hollow Bastion for some recon mission. While he got to the world, somehow he ended up ten years in the past. But seeing as he was now in an embrace with Isa, he figured it wouldn’t be too bad – though he now had to think of how he was going to get home. Perhaps he had gone through some worm hole or time loop; he’d find a way, somehow. Part of him thought that this was probably Xemnas’ doing, to mess with Axel’s head, and he had to say that mission was accomplished. Seeing Isa again now just reminded him of how much he had changed since then. A pain shot through Axel’s empty chest, and he practically lung to the younger boy, just listening to him talk, clinging to his words as if his life depended on it. It might have been pathetic, the way he was acting – but how many times does one get a chance to see the past self of their most precious person?
“I don’t think yer dreamin.” He said after a moment, watching him look at the surroundings. “If ya were, I’d be lookin’ like how you think Lea’d end up lookin’.” He said with a small smirk, amused by the fact that he thought he’d remain short. He wanted to tell him that Saïx was still taller than him, but he wasn’t sure if he would be able to handle something like that, and he didn’t want to offset the boy if he could avoid it. “Well these boots do have a bit of a heel,” As Isa let go he turned one of his feet, showing the slightly heeled boot. He let out a small breath at his question and had to wonder how he should go about answering it. He closed his eyes for a moment, letting the touch happen for a moment. “Tattoos,” He muttered, knowing that he would want more of an explanation. “Symbols for… Things that happen later than your time now. I don’t think I should go into too much detail about that…”
